Vincent Clyde Smith was born on January 24, 1957, in Clarke County, AL. He is the son of John Smith and Stella Davis Smith. Vincent became a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
After graduating from Clarke County High School, Jackson, AL, he went to Bishop State Community College and the University of South Alabama. After several years, he eventually received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from University of South Alabama. He unselfishly devoted a portion of his life to serving his country. Vince was in the United States Army, serving two years before receiving an Honorable Discharge. He relocated to Monroeville, AL and began working for Southwest Alabama Mental Health Services. After working several years as a Mental Health Counselor, he become the Operational Manager. Vincent held this position until his death on January 17, 2021.
He met and married Dr. Pamela Barber in 2004. To this union a son (Ian) was born in 2014. The couple lived in Monroeville and raised and nurtured their happy family. Vincent was a “hands-on” provider, husband and father. His family was important to him and watching his son become a young man, brought him so much joy.
In the lazy, afternoon hours of Sunday, January 17, 2021, God called his name. Surrounded by his family, he quietly answered his Masters call. He left behind his earthly labors for reward of rest. He is survived by his wife: Dr. Pamela Barber-Smith of Peterman, AL; two sons: Andre Vinson Jones of Mobile, AL and Ian Vincent Smith of Peterman, AL; two brothers: Henry (Rita) Smith of Dallas, TX and Virgil (Christie) Smith also of Dallas, TX; one sister: Marilyn Smith of Jackson, AL; two loved grandchildren: Aubrey Jones and Ajani Jones both of Mobile, AL; a beloved nephew: Hugh (Nicolette) Smith of Austin, TX; a host of nieces, nephews and other loved relatives.
