Tyrus Vance Bennett was born on March 24, 1966, to the proud parents, Edward Clyde Holmes and Ethel Mae Bennett in Butler County, Alabama.

Tyrus was a kind and loving young man and was educated in the public schools of Baldwin County, Alabama.  It was not far into his early years before he realized the importance of serving his country. Tyrus enlisted into the United States Navy and gave his life and stateside freedom to the commitment of serving in the armed forces.

No stranger to hard work, he gave four years to his country, before receiving an Honorable Discharge.  He returned home to Baldwin County and lived out the remaining years of his life as a devoted husband and father. After returning home, Tyrus re-connected with, and married his high school sweetheart, Carla Lavarne Graves. Tyrus found joy in the simplicities of life: family, good friends, and fishing. He was a ‘funny’ guy who liked to make others laugh. His easy and jovial spirit made him a joy to be around.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 4, 2020, the Lord saw that his time here on Earth should come to an end. He traded his earthly home for a mansion in the sky. Tyrus Vance Bennett has found that sweet peace as he rests by the master’s side.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Clyde Holmes and his mother and father- in- law, Willie & Lucy Graves.

Tyrus leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Carla Laverne Bennett of Bay Minette, Al.; his mother, Ethel Mae Bennett also of Bay Minette, AL; one daughter, Ariel (Dale) Watts of Robertsdale, AL; two sons, Tyrus (Alisha) Dobe of Baltimore, MD, and Darius Bennett of Bay Minette, AL; eight grandchildren, Tyliah, Mykalle, Mckenzie, Taylor, Tyrus Jr., Ayden, Kaylen, and Dale Jr.; four brothers, John (Gail) Bennett, Rev. Jimmie (Sandra) Bennett, Vonclay Bennett and Leviticus Bennett all of Bay Minette, AL; five sisters, Lynette Bennett Marshall, Diane (Richard) Thomas, both of Bay Minette, AL; Portia  (Steve) Odom of Foley, Al.; Shelia (Mario) Trott of Copper Cove, TX; and Ayanna Bennett of Bay Minette, AL;  two brother-in-laws, Willie Graves, Jr. of Bay Minette, AL and Kenny Bernard (Shirley) Graves of Atlanta, GA; three sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Graves, Jeanetta Graves of Bay Minette, AL and Gloria Ann Graves of Atlanta, GA; a devoted uncle, Doug Holmes of Virginia; a devoted aunt, Lillie Bell Hawthorne of Greenville, AL; two devoted high school friends Tony Tate and Tony Gandy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved relatives and many friends.
