"A voice we loved has been stilled but our hearts will hold you forever"
Thelma Annetta Dixon, was born in Pine Apple, AL, on October 25, 1945. She is the daughter of the late Idell Stallworth Brackett and the late Henry Clifton Dixon. Thelma confessed her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Beatrice, AL.
Thelma was a proud graduate of Monroe Count Training School, Class of 1963. She earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Alabama State University, Montgomery, AL. Thelma was an Educator who cared about her students. In 2000, she retired from Wilcox County School System in Camden where she had been a Educator/Counselor for many years.
She was a faithful and active member of the MCTS/JF Shields High School Alumni Association and the Unique Ebonettes Social Club until her death. She loved to cook. She would often share with others throughout the community, especially the elderly.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, September 12th, Thelma quietly took her Saviors hand and turned her back on the woes of this earth. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Juan Otis Dixon. “TAD” as she was affectionately called, will be missed my many.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted god-daughter: Satisha Hudson-Preyer of Monroeville, AL; one sister: Mary Lee Brackett-Griffin of Monroeville, AL; two nieces: Valerie Dixon of Smyrna, GA and Jameel Corvette Worthy of Cleveland, OH; one uncle: Herbert H. Stallworth, Sr of Mobile, AL; an aunt: Henrietta Stallworth of Long Island Islip, NY; two special cousins: Pedro D. Bell, Jr. of Montgomery, AL and Anthony “Buster” Stallworth of Luverne, AL; a host of other loved relatives, god children, club mates, colleagues and friends.
