Robert James Hollings was born on December 9, 1951, to Willie Earl Tucker and Annie Ruth Hollings Tucker in Monroe County, AL. He was educated in the public schools of Monroe County and graduated from Union High in 1970. Robert went on to further his education at Patrick Henry Junior College (Coastal Alabama Community College studying Criminal Justice.

Robert, affectionately called “Pops” by many, was a kind and even tempered person. A respected “peacemaker”, he often found himself calming situations around him. He watched the news faithfully and found it imperative that he keep up with the affairs of his country and the world he lived in. He loved people and people loved him. Robert was a smart man. He could figure out anything he put his mind to and was able to take things apart and put them back together with ease. His mind relished an opportunity to figure out how something worked.

Robert James Hollings proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. During his enlistment, he provided security over the airplanes while deployed to Thailand. After his Honorable Discharge, he was employed by the State of Alabama as a              Corrections Officer at Holman Prison in Atmore, AL.

He met and married Rev. Lola Watts Hollings and their union brought about the love of family that will cherish his memory, including his two sons: Derrick Tyrone Hollings of Monroeville, AL and Eric Terrel Hollings of Monroeville, AL three grandchildren: LaDerick Brooks of Birmingham, AL, Ariel Hollings of Monroeville, AL, and Dominic Hollings also of Monroeville, AL, a special and devoted aunt: Fannie Kimbrough of Frisco City, AL; a host of nieces and nephews, brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s,  other loved relatives and many loved friends including: James M. Kidd and Issac Poindexter.
