Robert Clinton Cunningham was born on February 1, 1950, to the late TB Cunningham and Rosie Lee Mims-Cunningham. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at his residence. He was preceded in death by is parents, two children, Teresa Cunningham, and Robert Cunningham, Jr., three brothers: Walter Cunningham, Eddie Cunningham, and Henry James Cunningham; two sisters: Mae Lee Cunningham and Georgia Mae Cunningham.
Robert “Cox” Cunningham was a native of Beatrice, AL. Trusting and accepting that God was his Lord and Savior, “Cox” was a member of the Savannah Baptist Church in Beatrice. He met his wife, Gloria Cunningham, in 1983, relocated to Mexia, AL, in 1988, and the two of them accepted the love that filled their hearts. They entered into the Sanctity of Holy Matrimony on August 4, 1989. While Robert had no specific church home, he enjoyed worshiping at Overcoming Holiness Pentecostal Church in Mexia, AL. His exemplary work ethics set him apart from others. Robert retired in 2011, as a Crew Supervisor for Buford Tree Services.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Gloria J. Cunningham of Mexia, AL; six loving children: Lashunda Cunningham of Mobile, AL, Robin (devoted friend Damien Sager) Cunningham of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Corbin Williams of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Pamela (Darrell) Peoples of Mexia, AL, Tabitha (Lester) McKinley of Monroeville, AL Paula (Gary) Knight of Monroeville, AL; two brothers: Thomas (Shirley) Cunningham of Moss Point, MS, and Ronnie (Joann) Cunningham of Pascagoula, MS; five sisters: Edith Grimes of San Antonio, TX, Mary Cunningham, of Mobile, AL, Gloria Nettles of Monroeville, AL, Carolyn Cunningham of Beatrice, AL, and Lillian Ann (Nathaniel) Brown of Mobile, AL; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three beloved god-children: Jerome Bivins, Kirk Walker and Joshua Turton; a host of nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and many friends.
