Nathaniel McCall was born on March 22, 1949 to the late Roosevelt and Isabell (Grimes) McCall in Conecuh County, AL. He was the oldest of seven children born to this sacred union. Nathaniel left home at an early age to serve his country in the US Army and fought the Vietnam War. Upon receiving his He was highly decorated, receiving two Bronze Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter (M-14), and two OS Bars, Expert (M16). Honorable Discharge, he returned home, where he continued to serve mankind upon his return.
Nathaniel enjoyed fishing, travel, and family and friend gatherings. He especially loved people. In fact, he never met a person that he didn’t attempt to draw into his circle with kindness and generosity.
On August 15, 2020, while in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Nathaniel fought his last battle. He traded service on earth for reward in Heaven. Nathaniel was preceded in death by a son, Nathaniel McCall, Jr.; a stepson, Donald Lewis; his father, Roosevelt McCall; and two siblings, Alice Bonner and Jacqueline English.
Nathaniel departed his earthly home on August 15, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory three loving children, Thenetha Renee Lewis-Sigler of Monroeville, AL, Quincy McCall of Harvey, LA, and Twanda McCall of Englewood, CA; one stepdaughter, Casey Lewis of Prattville, AL; a devoted mother, Isabell (Roosevelt-deceased) McCall of Repton, AL; four siblings, Frances Travis of Evergreen, AL, Dorothy “Killer” Bonner of Repton, AL, Dellaviner (Leon) Hixon of Monroeville, AL, and Alexander (Dora) McCall of Evergreen, AL; two grandchildren, Deliclia Sigler and Zavier Sigler; one great-granddaughter, Tiana Madison; two caring aunts, Annie Lee Rudolph and Mazie Cobbs; a devoted friend, Callie Smith of Monroeville, AL; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
