"Resting with the Savior"
Minnie Fountain was born on August 7, 1962, to Freddie Fountain and Minnie Lou McCorvey in Monroe County, AL. She was oldest of eight children born to this union. She accepted Christ at an early age and she and her family worshiped with the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Peterman, AL, throughout her lifetime.
Minnie was educated in the public schools of Monroe County, attending J. F. Shields, where she was a Basketball and Softball standout. She was a devoted mother. The smiles and laughter of her children brought her joy, but it was her grandchildren who stole her heart. Family was truly at the depth of her heart. She was a kind and nurturing person who cared for others. Minnie was employed for most of her adult life and was not afraid of hard work. She was most recently the Housekeeping Supervisor at Monroe Manor Rehabilitation Center, where she was employed for 30+ years. Minnie faithfully gave of herself and her job was her passion.
Minnie was a straight talking person. Saying what she meant, and meaning what she said. True to her friends and ever present with her family. In the early evening hours of Sunday, August 8, she quietly closed her eyes and took the Master’s hand. “Minnie Pearl” traded her earthly labors for her reward in Heaven. “Take your rest, Mama, your work here is done.” She was received in Heaven by her parents, who were waiting with open arms. She is at Peace.
Minnie Pearl Fountain leaves two daughters and one son to cherish her memories: K.
