Mrs. Lillian Owens Smith
"Rest now, your song of praise shall be heard amongst the Angels in Heaven"
Lillian Owens Smith was born on February 19, 1953, in Monroe County, Alabama, to Greer Owens, Sr. and Jannie Dickerson Owens. She was one of several loved children born to this loving union.
Lillian was a soft and sweet spirited person. She believed in the Lord and Savior and served Him faithfully throughout her lifetime. At a young age, she united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church. There, she actively gave herself in whatever capacity needed. She loved singing in the choir and took every opportunity to lift up her voice, in praise, for the Lord.
Lillian attended and graduated from J. F. Shields High School. She met and married Eddie Lee Smith and the two built a life of love together. They shared in the birth and rearing of four loved children. She helped her husband provide for the family, working as a Supervisor at the Peco Poultry Plant for many years. The couple relocated to Mississippi, not long ago. Her parents, husband, one son, Edrick Smith and one sister, Alma, all preceded her in death.
Lillian leaves her children to cherish her memory: Gregory (Reatha) Owens of Beatrice, Alabama, Eddie Smith, Jr. of Pascagoula, Mississippi and Torrance Smith of Angier, North Carolina; two brothers: Greer (Shirley) Owens, Jr. of Peterman, Alabama, Donald (Frances) Owens of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters: Debra Jacobs of Dayton, Ohio and Jocelyn (Donald Ray) Cunningham of Union Springs, Alabama; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and many friends.
