Julius Dailey Obituary

Julius Jamal Dailey

"Jay Jay"

"....Let not your heart be troubled. My Savior has prepared a place for me"

Julius Jamal Dailey was born on June 14, 1989, in Monroe County, AL. He was the son of Ervin Dailey and Consuella Dailey. Julius was an outstanding young man with a heart of gold. His smile announced his presence and engaged everyone he met. He was fun loving, kind and motivated by the friendships he shared. Those who knew Julius, affectionately called him “Jay Jay”. He was truly a loved member of his community.

He accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord and worshipped with Antioch Baptist Church #1 in Tunnel Springs, AL, under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Whalen Oliver. Early on, Jay dedicated his time to his church; singing in the choir, attending Sunday School, weekly Bible Study and Vacation Bible School. Jay Jay would sometimes draw the “side eye” from church mothers for his childish antics in church. As he grew older, he outgrew his playfulness in church. His serious love for God was evident in the way he lived his life. Known throughout the community, Jay Jay was a leader with a heart. It didn’t take long for him to find his niche. Once he began working in Law Enforcement, it became his destiny. It was his passion and he genuinely cared for the people in his county. Jay Jay began his law enforcement career working at Fountain Correctional Facility and then went on to Holman Prison. He worked for the Thomasville Police Department and the Pine Hill Sheriff’s Department, before returning home to work for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. His mild-mannered disposition could diffuse even the most volatile situations.

He attended J. F. Shields High School and transferred to Monroe County High his Senior year. He graduated with the MCHS Class of 2007. He has gained many friends and classmates in both schools. He was an avid Alabama football fan and rooted his team on at every game and “sported” his game attire often, as a show of respect and love for his team. A young father, Julius was devoted to his daughter. They would spend many nights together watching “Spirit”, which was her favorite show. Family meant the world to him and his friends drew a strong second. He was highly favored and only God knew why his time would end so soon.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 11, 2019, Jay Jay traded his place on earth to rest by the side of his Savior. He was just four days shy of his 30th birthday. He had planned out his birthday celebration (in Atlanta) and it included many activities with family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother: Demetrius Dailey and his grandparents: Johnnie Mae Cunningham, Johnester Cunningham, Pecola Dailey, and Willie James Dailey.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents: Consuella and Ervin Dailey of Monroeville, AL; his daughter: Karlie Jay Dailey of Monroeville, AL; four brothers: Michael Alonzo (LaTonya) Wiggins of Monroeville, AL; Timothy (Brenda) Rudolph of Belleville, AL, LaBarron (Renita) Dailey of “Navarre, FL and Brian (Shuntina) Williams of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: DeNeidra Wiggins of Monroeville, AL, and Tiffany Richardson of Evergreen, AL; three devoted and caring friends: Keisha Davis, Jannelle Davis and Buford Betts; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.
