2 CORINTHIANS 5:8 - 6 ~ Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, our beloved mother, Helen Williams, was peacefully called home to her eternal resting place to be with the Lord at the age of 95.

From the union of her parents Robert and Channie (Palmer) McReynolds, she was born on August 25, 1928, in Bay Minette, AL. Growing up in Alabama, she later married on March 4, 1944.  Afterwards, she and her husband moved to Chicago, IL in the late 1940s.  She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Malcom Williams, and a devoted mother to their children Channie, Ronald, Jennifer, Malcom, Jhatayn and Kimberly.  In 1969, the family moved to Akron, OH where Helen worked for the Akron Public School System until her retirement. She also became a devoted member of Stone Deliverance Evangelical Temple where she attended for more than 45 years and served as an usher, Mother of the Church, and was active in Sunday School and Women’s Fellowship.

Helen lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings and church social functions. She also had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden, which was always in full bloom. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Gospel music and solving word search puzzles in her free time.  She was always good for laughs with either quick remarks or just to share something funny with.  Above all, she loved going to church and serving for as long as she was able.  She spent many weekends visiting the sick and shut in, always offering words of prayer and encouragement while talking about the goodness of Jesus.

Helen was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Channie McReynolds, husband Malcom, daughter Channie, son Ronald, as well as her brothers, Norman, Robert Jr., Melvin and sister, Narvie Lee.  She leaves to cherish her memory Jennifer (Charles) Upton, Malcom (Sandra) Williams, Jhatayn Williams, Kimberly (Leon) Williams-Haynes and daughter in-law Sally Williams, her sisters Cecil Cox, Barbara Judge and Eleanor Johnson, grandchildren Sherri Tabler, Ronald Derrick (Shalisa) Williams, Ronald Aaron Williams, Syretta (Michael) Ivory, Dominic (Maritza) Williams, and Channie Jones, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A private funeral service will be held for family members and friends at Stone Deliverance Evangelical Temple. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 11AM to 12PM.  Followed by the funeral service beginning at 12PM with Pastor Charles Bell officiating. A repass will follow at LM Event Space located at 215 E Waterloo Rd #11, Akron, OH 44319 after 330PM.

On, Thursday, August 22, 2024, Helen’s Family will also hold a visitation service at Stone Deliverance Evangelical Temple (#2) located at 820 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Bay Minette, AL 36507 from 10AM to 11AM.  Her burial is to follow at the cemetery in Stockton, AL, officiated by Pastor Kenny Crooks.  A repass is to follow at Rosa’s Place at 101 North Hoyle Ave., Bay Minette, AL 36507.  Please visit banksmemorial.com for further details.

Rest in Christ, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
