Ely Sullie, Jr.
Sullie Ely, Jr. was born on May 5, 1950, to Mae Nolia Pendleton Ely and the late Sullie Ely, Sr., of Clarke County, AL. He was one of seven siblings. Sullie attended Clarke County High School and after graduation, After graduation he went to work in Michigan at Detroit Diesel. Later he returned to Alabama where he worked at Sales Ford in Monroeville and then Timberland Ford in Grove Hill. He was a man of many friends and people throughout Clarke and surrounding counties knew who he was. A civil servant, Sullie also worked as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for forty years.
He met and married Lucile and their union brought about the love of three devoted children; two born to their marriage and a grandchild born to be loved by them.
Sullie is survived by many who loved him, his devoted wife: Lucile Ely of Gosport, AL; a loving mother: Mae Nolia Pendleton Ely of Gosport, AL; two daughters: Dedra LaShon and Vanessa Lyn Ely both of Whatley, AL; two sons: Assa Morrissette of Thomasville, AL, and (grandson) Justin Devyon Ely of Whatley, AL; two loved grandchildren: Amari Thalia Ely of Gosport, AL; and Skylar Rayne Ely both of Gosport, AL; two sisters: Ava Nell Pugh of Grove Hill, AL and Jacqueline White of Thomasville, AL; one brother: Shedrick (Lula Bell) Ely of Gosport, AL; a host of nieces, nephews: eleven sisters-in-law: Bertha Lee Davis, Mattie Lou (Herold) King, Sharon Diane Whitsett, Arther Jones, Mariah Taylor, and Ruth Ford all of Gosport, AL, Mary Kiser, of Columbus, OH, Geneva Rothschild of Union City, AL, Katie Davis of Mobile, AL; Paulene Mack of Tulsa, OK, and Naomi Wilmington of Razenon, OH; five brothers-in-law: Clarence Whitsett, Elouise Armsetad of Gosport, AL; Clinton (Loretta) Whitsett of Perdue Hill, AL; Ocie Kiser, Arther Kiser both of Akron, OH, and Larry Frazier of Grove Hill, AL; and many other loved relatives and devoted friends.
