Starrett Simpson was born on January 3, 2001, in Monroe County, AL. She is the daughter of Latoya Simpson and John Murphy. She was member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Nichburg Community under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Danny Benjamin. "Star" as she was affectionately called, was a joy to her family and friends.
She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2019 with a mapped out plan for her future. She committed to Troy University and was preparing to start classes in the Fall of 2019. While at Hillcrest, she actively represented her school in various capacities; including The National Honors Society, Beta Club, Science Club, Upward Bound, and Patient Care Technician (PCT). She recently began the process of enlisting in the United States Air Force Reserve. But of all her accomplishments and accolades, Star was happiest being a Cheerleader for the Jags. She rooted her team on with the biggest smile and warmest heart.
A life long resident of Evergreen, Star worked at KFC in Evergreen as a Cashier. In the evening hours of Thursday, August 1, 2019, God saw that her time here on earth should end. He granted her Angel wings and wrapped her in his arms. She leaves to cherish her memories, her parents: LaToya Simpson of Evergreen, AL, and John L. (LaTanya) Murphy of Monroeville, AL; five sisters: Porche' Murphy of Huntsville, AL, Jon'nesia Murphy of Monroeville, AL, Mechila Davis of Mobile, AL, Treasure Stallworth of McWilliams, AL, Cameronesha Nettles of Monroeville, AL; four brothers: Quentin (Megan) Simpson of Montgomery, AL, Jonathan Murphy of Camden, AL, Demarrius Murphy and Jon'Darrius Murphy all of Camden, AL; grandparents: Lizzie M.
