Sammie "Champ" Kimbrough, Sr.
Mr. Sammie Kimbrough, Jr., was born on April 16, 1940, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Sammie Kimbrough, Sr., in Monroe County, AL.
Mr. Kimbrough attended Frisco City School and later, in 1962, he graduated from Union High School in Monroeville, AL. He joined Lilly Baptist Church and was a member until his health did not allow him to go.
He was an avid farmer for most of his life. Mr. Kimbrough retired from Monsanto (Pensacola, FL) after 31 years of employment. Upon retirement, he returned, full time, to the life he loved most - farming his own land. He continued to farm until his health presented physical challenges for him.
In the afternoon hours of Thursday, March 21, 2019, the Lord saw that he should move from labor to reward. He heard his Savior’s call and left behind his earthly woes for eternal rest. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife: Mrs. Fannie Kimbrough of Frisco City, AL; two nieces: Mrs. Tanzia Frazier of Washington, DC and Ms. Angie Lovett of Philadelphia, PA; three nephews: Mr. Jiles Hands, Mr. Robert Hollins, and Mr. Eddie Hands of Monroeville, AL; one aunt: Mrs. Regina Rankins of Mobile, AL; a god child: Mr. Myles Harper of Canton, GA; one sister-in-law: Mrs. Geneva Hollinger of Excel, AL; two god-brothers: Mr. Ervin Watts and Mr. Kenneth Lamar; a host of cousins, other loved relatives and many friends.
