Minnie Ruth Smith Andrews
"Let not your heart be troubled. The Lord has prepared a place for me....."
Minnie Ruth Smith Andrews was born in Monroe County, AL, on August 8, 1943, to (the late) Thomas Earl Smith, Mary Lucille Salter Smith and Novella Elois Smith. She was one of several children born to this loving union. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Daniel Baptist Church, where she was a member until she answered her call to Heaven. Minnie "Red" as she was affectionately known, loved her family and nothing brought her more joy than her children and grandchildren.
She worked for many years as a Cook, serving up some of the best dishes known throughout the area. She retired after cooking in many kitchens, including AJ's. She was educated in the public school system and attended Union High School. Minnie was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister and dedicated friend. Her spirit was gentle and her heart was big. She found comfort and joy in knowing the Lord.
On Friday, May 24, 2019, the Heavenly Father whispered, "Peace be thine" and gently took her hand. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters: Katie Mae Booker, Evanette Cunningham and Ernestine Alexander. She rests now in Heaven.
Minnie Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, four sons: Bennie Lee Andrews and Tyrus Andrews both of Monroeville, AL, Charles (Twinette) Andrews of Fairfield, CA, and Kenneth (Andrea) Andrews of Repton, AL; six daughters: Mary Helen English of Duluth, GA, Etta (Army) Lester of Kennesaw, GA, Linda (Jerry) Tolbert of Peterman, AL, Sara (Willie) Nettles and Sherie Welker both of Repton, AL, and Terrial (Aaron) Simmons of Lawrenceville, GA; nine brothers: Johnnie Smith, Alvin (Sarah) Smith, Thomas Earl (Sharon) Smith Jr., Willie Earl (Marilym) Smith, Sammie Earl Smith, and Floyd Ray (Keisha) Smith all of Moss Point, MS, James Clennon (Sheila) Smith, of Pascagoula, MS, Aaron (Yolanda) Lee Smith of Houston, TX and Jerry Lee (Deborah) Smith of Warner Robbins, GA; four sisters: Voncille Booker of Pascagoula, MS; Fannie Odessa (Freddie) Green of Moss Point, MS, Alice Finnel of Marietta, GA and Kenyatta Smith Thompson also of Moss Point, MS; thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, three sisters-in-law: Fannie Andrews and Mary Andrews both of Monroeville, AL, and Celestine Andrews of Moss Point, MS; two brothers-in-law: James (Annie) Andrews of Monroeville, AL, and Charles (Marian) Andrews of Tallahassee, FL; a host of nieces and nephews, other loved relatives and many friends.
