Mrs. Johnsia Mae Scott
"Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled...."
Johnsia Mae “Nunnie” Scott was born on October 28, 1935, to the late E.C. Lamar and Levonia Lamar in Monroe County, AL; She was one of seven children. She transitioned home to glory on July 29, 2019, at her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons: Victor and Lorenzo Scott; brothers: E. C. Jr. and Willie Lamar.
She united with the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful and dutiful member serving as clerk of the church and lending her angelic “soprano” voice in the choir.
She attended the Perdue Hill Industrial High School (Perdue Hill, AL) where she was a star basketball player. After graduating, she continued her education at the Walker Vocational Business College (Jacksonville, FL) majoring in Secretarial Administrations. After many years of service, she retired from the Monroe County Board of Education.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son: Wayne (Patricia) Scott of Killeen, TX; three daughters: Johnette McGaffie of Houston, TX, Melinda Rolax of Conyers, GA, and Tammy (Donnie) Austin of Mobile, AL; one brother: Charles (Polly) Lamar of Taylor, MI; three sisters: Geraldine Lampkin of Loxley, AL, Elnora Jackson of Daphne, AL, and Annette Gary of Frisco City, AL; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two dedicated first cousins: Fannie Malone and Annie Sanders both of Mobile, AL; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other cousins, and friends.
