James Anthony Heard
James Anthony Heard was born on January 10, 1962, to Walter and Australia Hodges in Baldwin County, AL. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and united with the Morning Star Baptist Church. He later relocated his membership to the Little Rock Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and remained a member, until God called him Home to rest.
He attended Foley High School until the 10th grade. In his early years of Jr. High, he played on the basketball team. James later learned his talented skills in roofing and was known throughout the county as a “top notch” Roofer. Affectionately known as “Shawty”, he was great with numbers and possessed a capacity to excel in Math. A man of few words, he enjoyed family and friends and the laughter that being together brought.
On Saturday, June 30, 2018, the Lord saw fit to call him Home. He leaves to cherish his memories, his father and mother: Dea. Walter and Australia Hodges; four children: Gunteries Minor, Carneshia (Ronnie) Williams, Arneshia (Derrick) Jemison and Australia (Benjamin) Stallworth all of Foley, AL; two sisters: Cora Heard and Doris (Cornelious) Scott both of Foley, AL; four uncles: Vernie Heard Sr., Felix (Lila) Heard, Walter (Shirley) Heard, including one special uncle: James N. Heard of Foley, AL; two aunts: Rosa Nichols and Naomi (John) Knight both of Foley, AL; twelve grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many devoted friends; including Tonya, Eddie, Telvin, Roderick, Jermaine, Dewayne, Mario and Corey.
