Tanya Michelle Nicely was born on September 4, 1966, in Conecuh County, AL.  She was the daughter of James and Ethel Jean (Nicholson) Rice. Tanya was a kind spirited person who loved being with family and friends.  

Tanya attended Repton High School and was popular amongst her peers. She was a basketball standout, cheerleader and Homecoming Queen.

Tanya was a proud graduate of the class of 1984, Repton High School Bulldogs.  She later attended Reid State Technical College in Evergreen, AL where she studied Business Administration.

Tanya accepted Christ as her personal Savior and served Him throughout her life. She believed in worship and attended Bethesda Baptist Church until relocating to be closer to her workplace.  She worshipped with the Potter’s Place Church in Selma, AL and was employed with Mobis, as a Quality Control  Specialist. 

Tanya took her place in His Kingdom on October 8, 2017.  She traded the woes of this earth for a mansion in the sky. She was preceded in death by her    Mother, Ethel Jean Rice, Father, Augusta Nicely; Grandparents, Bishop & Eula Mae Nicholson, A. G. & Nancy Nicely and  Lloyd & Hattie Rice.

Tanya leaves many to cherish her memory, including two loving children: Kiara Charonne (Marqus) Curtis, Mobile, AL, and Kendall Nicely, Monroeville, AL; a devoted father: James Russell Rice, Nichburg, AL; two sisters: Ericka Dionne Nicholson, Pensacola, FL, and Tracey Nicely, Milwaukee, WI; two grandchildren: Marlee and  Kohen Curtis both of Mobile, AL; two nephews, Jarrod Nicholson of Pensacola, FL and Torey Nicholson, Nichburg, AL.; five Aunts, Annie Mae (Willie James) Bradley and Barbara Williams, Nichburg, AL; Joyce Rice, Opilia Rice Torrance and Genevie Rice Willis, GA. three uncles; James (Jerry) Torrey, Gautier, MS., Floyd Rice, Denver, CO, Garland (Rosemary) Rice, Augusta, GA.  A host of cousins, relatives and many caring friends.
