Richard Chatman Obituary

Mr. Richard Danyel Chatman

"Chat" "Pee Wee"

Richard Danyel Chatman was born on August 8, 1973, in Pascagoula, MS. He is the son of the late Willie James Chatman and Margaret Ann Stallworth Chatman. Richard was a jovial spirit who enjoyed the happiness of others.  A devoted husband, father, brother and friend, he will be missed dearly.

He attended J. F. Shields High School and graduated in 1992.  He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Georgia Pacific for many years before taking it on the road. Richard later became a Commercial Truck Driver. Owning his own truck, he hauled loads for Brent and other industry companies.

He was known and loved by many. He had a passion for his community and helping others was a part of who he was. “Chat” and “Pee Wee”, as he was affectionately called, loved to help others. August 18, 2007, he re-entered the Sanctity of Holy Matrimony with Janet Thompson. Their marriage formed creation of a loving family that included eight children. His weekends were often spent playing softball. He loved playing and hanging out with his team mates. “Pee Wee” played all over Alabama with Chat and Chew in Newberry and almost any other team that needed him. “Chat” volunteered his time as a youth football coach for the J. E. Hobbs Jaguars. A God fearing man, he accepted Christ at an early age and became of member of the Cathedral of Faith Christian Center in Beatrice. Never wavering in his faith, he recently formed a fellowship with Faith Temple in Pine Apple, under the leadership of Elder Grayson and was a member of the Last Chance Church in Camden where he was an Deacon.

In the afternoon hours of Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Monroe County Hospital, Richard succumbed to God’s will. He heard His Master. “God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to  be, so He put his arms around him, and whispered Come To Me”.  With tearful eyes, we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.

He is survived by his loving wife: Janet Thompson Chatman of Camden, AL; six sons: Richard Chatman of Camden, AL, Demetrus Taite of Monroeville, AL, Reco Wiggins of Enterprise, AL, Marcus Wiggins of Norfolk, VA, Warrior Wiggins of Ft. Worth, TX, and Henry Jones of Camden, AL; two daughters: Brianna Chatman of Moss Point, MS, and Sandreka (Joe) Ramsey of Raeford, NC; two brothers: Rev. Keith (Mary) Crawford, Sr., of Pascagoula, MS, and Jeremy Chatman of Alaska; two sisters: Margaret Crawford of Monroeville, AL, and Doris (Gregory, Sr.) Montgomery of Beatrice, AL; four grandchildren: Dallas Taite, Demondre Taite, Recaro Wiggins and  Royal Wiggins; devoted aunts and uncles: Shirley Watts, Elizabeth Marshall, Sallie Govan, Mary Weatherspoon, Christine Manual, Charles Stallworth, Leroy Stallworth, Lewis Mims, William Sanders, and Clarence Sanders; several loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, other loved relatives, a devoted church family, many friends and teammates.
